Signing Ceremony for the Administration Agreement between Sida and the World Bank to support Uganda’s Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) - Window III “Crowding in Private Sector for Jobs”
Kampala, Uganda 27th September 2022. PSFU represented by the Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Asiimwe participated insigning ceremony for the Administrative Agreement between Sida and the World Bank to support Uganda’s MDTF under Window III “Crowding in Private Sector for Jobs” on September 27, 2022, at the Swedish Residence on Plot 22 Elizabeth Avenue, Kololo.
The World Bank received SEK 124 million from Sida to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth and create jobs in Uganda. The World Bank and Sida will formalize the cooperation with this signing ceremony. The funds will be disbursed through the World Bank’s MDTF and will be complementary to the IDA financed Investment for Industrial Transformation and Employment (INVITE) program of USD 200 Million. The funds will support both activities implemented by the Government of Uganda and the World Bank, contributing to the MDTF’s overarching objective of supporting Uganda’s development strategy of inclusive and sustainable growth.
The grant will be disbursed over of 4yrs through the World Bank Africa-admin Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) which mobilizes donor contributions & invests in strategic areas to promote effective implementation of Uganda’s NDPs to achieve Vision 2040.
It finances activities delivered through interlinked windows to improve development outcomes:
- Public investment management;
- Donor effectiveness;
- Private sector and jobs;
- Resilient communities; and
- Management of forestry & tourism resources.
