Uganda’s agricultural exports to register positive returns after the Uganda-UK trade and investment summit
Uganda, Kampala; 26th September 2022: Exporters that participated in the recently concluded trade and investment summit received positive and diverse business opportunities during the trade mission to the UK. With the support of the newly appointed UK Trade representatives, Mr. Mark Pursey exporters were able to meet top buyers and importers who buy over 40% of UK fresh produce and key Coffee buyers that they would have otherwise never meet. The Exporters also visited major buyer markets that import fresh produce and beef from all over the world.
Some of the exporters registered good orders that they will be concluding after signing MOUs in December 2022 when H.E the President will launch the Uganda-UK business council.
The Presidential Advisory Committee on Export and Industrial Development (PACEID) in partnership with the Uganda UK convention supported 13 exporters to participate in the Uganda UK Trade and Investment Summit. As one of the strategic interventions to accelerate the growth of exports and industrial development, the committee has devised a new approach to reach the buyer/importers in the target export markets. The appointment of Trade Representatives and organization of specific exporter trade mission has so far achieved good results. PACEID was tasked to grow Uganda’s export earnings by 6Bn USD by 2027 by H.E the President in March 2022.
On Tuesday 27th September 2022, PACEID Chairman, leadership of PSFU, UEPB,UCDA and the Exporters briefed the media about the export orders received in UK and the strategic interventions that will enable Uganda double its exports in the next 5 years.
