WHATS NEW :

Corona virus disease (COVID-19) complacency will cost Uganda a fortune

23. August 2020 - The Board and Management of Private Sector Foundation Uganda wishes to make this important announcement about COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health has issued a statement about the current surge of this COVID19 in many parts of Uganda, especially in Kampala. We, as the apex body of the private sector in Uganda who have been working closely with Ministry of Health and the National Task force set up by the President and Government are aware of the situation in Uganda, and clearly we have entered in another phase. The virus is no longer at the border points, it has now spread into communities.

Fellow Ugandans, COVID-19 remains a big challenge for all of us. The number of cases and deaths are on the rise. We would like you to reflect on this disease. Once you are diagnosed with the disease, you are isolated, and left in the hands of medical practitioners. In the unfortunate event that you pass away, you will not be buried by your relatives. COVID-19 is threatening and taking lives. This pandemic has affected so many Countries, and many people have lost their lives across the globe.

Therefore, we urge Ugandans to strictly observe the Standard Operating Procedures as laid by the Ministry of Health:

1. Always wear a face mask when in public.

2. Wash hands with soap and sanitize

3. Sanitize workplace surfaces

4. Observe social distancing of at least 2 metres.

This way we shall remain safe, alive and continue normally with our businesses. Please remember that each time you do not wear a mask, you put your life and that of your family, friends, colleagues at risk.

Therefore, PSFU joins the Government of Uganda to appeal to the public to be vigilant, listen and observe the SOPs.

Signed:

Gideon Badagawa
