PSFU rallies government on export promotion

The CEO of PSFU Mr Stephen Asiimwe chaired the 54th National Oversight Committee meeting at the Sheraton Hotel Kampala.

In his opening remarks. Mr. Asiimwe, emphasized the urgency for the government to enhance its export promotion strategy. He stressed the importance of adding value to Uganda’s exports to address the country's trade deficit with the global community.

In addition, Mr. Asiimwe underscored the significance of implementing the key productive sectors outlined in the FY2024/25 National budget to bolster the economy in the upcoming year. This strategy is largely dependent on the growth of exports, an increase in regional trade within the EAC and COMESA, intra-trade, and leveraging both existing and new trading partners across the globe.

Dignitaries present at the meeting included representatives from the Ministry of East African Community Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry Cooperatives, and Trademark Africa, UWEAL, USAID, DANIDA, among others.
