PSFU-Skills Development Facility (SDF) Team on a learning Visit in Singapore.

The Execuive director Mr. Gideon Badagawa led a team of SDF Staff, members of the SDF Grants committee, officials from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development and Ministry of Education and Sports including a representation from development partner BTC for a learning visit in Singapore from 25th -30th June 2017. The learning visit was intended to understand how the Singapore Skills future Fund works, and how its links with the National TVET strategy, to learn how the various institutions involved in TVET collaborate with the private sector, to understand how the fund on Skills/ workforce development works, learn process of developing short term training by TVET institutions. The learning trips involved visits to various institutions which were both government and private institutions involved in TVET training related activities. The key learning was that to have a successful relevant trainings TVET institutions and funders must work with companies to design relevant trainings that are market driven and minimize disrupting production. That government should make deliberate efforts and fund TVET institutions to enable them deliver effective training programs.
